On the Road with PTBeads!
July 2007
We recently went to a rally in Billings, Montana. On the way, we made a few stops.
First, the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. A large portion (inside and out) of the building is covered in corn. They change the theme of the building each year.
These pictures are from the inside of the arena.
Our next stop was the Petrified Gardens in the badlands. We didn't do too much sightseeing because a little bit of a storm was brewing.
Our last stop of the day was Wall Drug. It was getting late, so this picture is a little dark.
The next morning we headed to the Black Hills. We were running behind schedule at this point so we did some serious power sightseeing. Everything else you see here we did in one day. Our first stop was Bear Country. This is a drive through wildlife park. Very cool.
On to Rushmore Cave.
We had tickets to the 1880 train later in the afternoon, but with steep grades and hauling a trailer, we had to find an alternate route, which took us right past one of our stops scheduled for later. Crazy Horse.
The day is almost over and we haven't been to Crazy Horse or Mt. Rushmore yet! We made it to Mt. Rushmore about 7:00PM.
It's starting to get dark, so we hurry over to Crazy Horse. We made it 15 minutes prior to the museum closing, but made it just in time for the light show. They do a presentation on the mountain. The first picture is a smaller scale of the real thing. 1/35th the size, I believe.
The light show is over, everyone is leaving. It's about 10:30 PM and we need to be in Billings by noon tomorrow. We've got 6 hours to go, so we hit the road!!!
See you on the road.......
